American Council of Exercise sponsored study on the Benefits of Hooping
Hooping builds strong core muscles which improves functional fitness as well as trims belly fay and strengthens the abdominal and back muscles. It improves flexibility of the spine and pelvis while improving balance and agility. As a fitness professional and business owner, I felt it was important to show empirical research that documented hooping as a legitimate form of exercise. We engaged the services of a research team led by Dr. John Pocarri- professor of exercise and physiology from the University of Wisconsin- LaCrosse. The goal was to determine the caloric expenditure and relative exercise intensity during a hooping exercise session. The research team from University of Wisconsin- LaCrosse visited Green Bay, set up their equipment at Bellin Health, and conducted a full day of research on January 9, 2010. The complete results are posted in the American Council of Exercise Journal.
