Mary Pulak, founder of Hooked on Hooping has produced an exercise DVD used with weighted hula hoops which provides a total body workout. It is a great tool for people of all ages to add to their fitness regime.

Hooked on Hooping: Learn the Basics is an exercise DVD for people of all shapes, sizes and ages. The DVD has four sections: 

Part 1 offers a brief introduction of hooping and its benefits, as well as how to find the right size hoop best suited for you. 

Part 2 includes step by step instruction on basic hoop skills, and other movements you can integrate into your workout.

Part 3 is a 25 minute continuous hoop fitness  workout.

Part 4 provides additional fun hoop skills to learn to add for your enjoyment and fitness routine.

For the beginner, start slowly and be patient in developing your  skills. You may want to learn several skills at a time, and then work on perfecting them. Regular practice will improve your skills quickly. If you find the 25 minute continuous work-out too difficult, do arms first while simulating the hooping action with your hips, but not using the hoop.
